The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan developed algorithms of actions on monkeypox. The head of the Department for Prevention of Infectious, Parasitic Diseases and Epidemiological Surveillance of the Department for Disease Prevention, State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Dinara Otorbaeva told at a press conference.

She recalled that this is not a new disease, but earlier it was registered mainly in African countries.

«Cases were recently registered in the European region. It says that the person was in close contact, because the disease is transmitted only through close contact,» she said.

Dinara Otorbaeva added that the Ministry of Health has issued relevant orders, and algorithms for surveillance, detection and treatment have been developed.

«We are doing preparatory work. I hope that it will hardly be registered in our country. But the infection knows no boundaries,» she said.

Monkeypox is a rare viral infection transmitted between humans. The disease often has a mild form, most patients recover within a few weeks, but some develop complications.
