At least 1.5 billion soms were allocated from the republican budget for preparatory work on the construction site of Kambarata HPP-1. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov announced.
He noted that Kyrgyzstan began preparations for construction of the hydropower plant itself.
«About 412.8 million soms were allocated from the budget for research, feasibility study and other work. Having reviewed the republican budget, we decided to allocate about 1.5 billion soms in order to independently begin construction work at the facility. The allocated money will be spent on the construction of a tunnel leading to the hydropower plant, a bridge across Naryn river to connect two banks, high-voltage electrical networks, a road and a camp where workers will live,» Sadyr Japarov said.
He noted that the preparatory work will cause interest of investors and partners in the main area, where the construction of the strategic facility will be carried out. «I would like to take this opportunity to say that we are ready to cooperate with interested parties. To date, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have expressed their readiness to invest in the project,» the head of state stressed.
Sadyr Japarov launched construction of Kambarata HPP-1 in Jalal-Abad region today.
Kambarata HPP-1 will be the largest power facility of the whole cascade of Kambarata hydropower plants. The project implies construction of a 256-meter high rock-fill dam and the power plant with the installed capacity of 1,860 megawatts. The Kambarata HPP-1 will generate an average of 5.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity with a full reservoir volume of 5.4 billion cubic meters of water.
Construction period is from 8 to 10 years. Commissioning of the first hydroelectric unit of the HPP is planned in four years, if there is permanent financing.
