Speaker of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Talant Mamytov took part in a visiting session of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) held in Yerevan, Armenia.
Speaking at the event, he reminded that the Collective Security Treaty was signed 30 years ago and the CSTO was established on the basis of the treaty 20 years ago.
According to Talant Mamytov, its members must continue to work together in accordance with the goals of the organization, joining efforts against any situation and challenges that threaten security.
«I would like to note that the CSTO crisis response system takes a very important place. The increasing challenges and threats to security, which include international terrorism, religious extremism, drug trafficking and more, require from our states to pay close attention and deepen cooperation to respond to existing threats in a timely manner,» he said.
The head of the delegation also added that the Kyrgyz Republic attaches great importance to strengthening the potential of the CSTO, creation of a full-fledged military-political structure based on trust and mutual understanding.
«We are interested in the development of multilateral cooperation in the military-economic and security sphere. In this regard, we need to focus our efforts not only on countering challenges and threats to security, but also on eliminating causes of their emergence,» he said.
