1.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to expire in a month

At least 1.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines will expire in a month. Deputy Zhyldyz Sadyrbaeva announced at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on social policy.

The Deputy Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan Nuriyla Sherieva confirmed the information.

According to her, there are 2,503,376 doses of the coronavirus vaccine in the country now.

«Of these, 1.5 million doses expire in July. The remaining doses of the vaccine will expire by December. We vaccinate from 500 to 1,000 people daily now. A lot of doses of the vaccine came with a short shelf life as a humanitarian aid,» Nuriyla Sherieva said.

Earlier, MP Dastan Bekeshev said that the Cabinet of Ministers has submitted an agreement with the Asian Development Bank for ratification to the Parliament, according to which it intends to purchase 1.7 million doses of coronavirus vaccines. «An agreement was brought to Parliament for ratification, by which we take $12.5 million from the Asian Development Bank as a loan and the same amount as a grant. The money will be used to purchase 1.7 million doses of vaccines that will be approved by ADB. Part of the money will be spent on the purchase of syringes, consulting services, salary of the staff of the project development department, and so on,» he explained.
