Prosecutor General's Office: Children of migrants commit more crimes

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kyrgyzstan registered a growth in the number of crimes committed by minors.

As the press service of the supervisory authority told 24.kg news agency, in the first quarter of 2022, five more cases were initiated against teenagers compared to the same period last year.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, 310 crimes committed by children (under 18) were registered. Of the initiated cases, 198 were terminated, 76 were sent to court, and 23 facts are under investigation.

Teenagers committed most of the crimes in Osh city (57 facts), least of all — in Naryn region (7).

The main reason for offenses committed by adolescents is the awkward age and social problems. Children of migrants, who are left without appropriate adult supervision, commit more crimes.

At least 54 criminal cases were initiated against minors in Issyk-Kul region, 52 — in Jalal-Abad region, 47 — in Bishkek, 32 — in Osh region, 25 — in Batken region, 23 — in Chui region, 13 — in Talas region.
