The Chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia Nikita Mikhalkov proposed to create own film academy in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). He voiced the proposal today at the 1st Eurasian Economic Forum.
According to him, there is a problem when ideas disappear, and what is not art is called art. The only protection of moral and cultural values is the Eurasian civilization.
«Immunity is lost in the civilized world, cowardice and inability to protect one’s interests are called tolerance. We must save the most precious thing that we have, based on the cultural and moral traditions that unite us, protect ourselves from everything that can lead the world to disaster,» the film director said.
On behalf of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia, he voiced a proposal to create a Eurasian Film Academy and award a Eurasian Oscar.
«Films that correspond to the ideals that we will formulate will participate in the contest, but not the films that destroy the human essence. The prize must be expensive; people must compete for it. Each year it will include one film that was not produced in the Eurasian space, but that complies with our principles. I am convinced that this is very necessary for the political development of the Eurasian space. This should be decided at the highest level. This is a mechanism of political self-defense of the essence of Eurasianism,» Nikita Mikhalkov concluded.
