The Bishkek City Court considered an appeal of Kumtor Gold Company CJSC on imposition of a fine in the amount of 261.7 billion soms for storing waste on glaciers.
A representative of Kumtor Gold Company asked to make the hearing closed, since the information voiced in court could harm the interests of the company.
However, the court denied the petition, noting that the hearing was open.
In the debate of the parties, the defendant asked to cancel the decision of the first instance. The hearing was held without the participation of the plaintiffs, since they had previously left the courtroom in protest.
Leaving the deliberation room, the judicial board overturned the decision of the Oktyabrsky District Court of the capital and issued a new decision. The activists’ claim against Kumtor Gold Company was denied.
