New head of Foreign Policy Department of Presidential Office appointed

President Sadyr Japarov signed a decree according to which Muratbek Azymbakiev was appointed the head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Executive Office. He came to the post instead of Jeenbek Kulubaev, who became the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The new appointee is 56 years old. He graduated from the Faculty of History of the Moscow State University with distinction and the Diplomatic Academy of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs also with distinction.

He taught at the Issyk-Kul Pedagogical Institute, worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic; since August 2019 he had worked as a senior expert at the Department for Economic and Humanitarian Affairs of the SCO Secretariat, since February 26, 2021 — as a Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

He is married and has four children.
