The Parliament of approved a draft law developed by the Ministry of Justice on toughening criminal liability for economic smuggling.
Articles of the Criminal Code and the Code of Offenses of the Kyrgyz Republic will be supplemented with norms providing for the confiscation of not only the subject of smuggling, but also a vehicle as an instrument of crime, to the state revenue.
The offender will not be able to escape liability by paying customs duties at double rate.
This draft law eliminates legal «loopholes» for offenders and corrupt civil servants and increases the responsibility of state officials.
