New thresholds for money transfers abroad for individuals have been set. Website of the Central Bank of Russia says.
During a calendar month, residents of Russia, as well as non-residents from friendly countries may transfer from their bank account in a Russian bank to their account or to another individual abroad not more than $50,000 or the equivalent in another foreign currency. Previously, the limit was $10,000.
Residents and non-residents from friendly countries can still transfer not more than $5,000 or the equivalent in another currency through companies providing money transfer services without opening an account per month.
Individuals — non-residents from friendly countries working in Russia under labor or civil law contracts, in addition, can also transfer funds from Russian accounts abroad in rubles and foreign currency in the amount of wages or fees for work and services and make the same transfers without opening an account.
Non-residents from non-friendly countries, working in Russia under the employment or civil law contracts, are allowed to transfer funds from Russian accounts abroad in rubles and foreign currency in the amount of wages or salaries for work and services, and to transfer abroad these funds without opening an account. Previously, non-residents from unfriendly countries could only transfer funds in a foreign currency in the amount of up to $10,000 from the account and up to $5,000 without opening an account.
The restrictions are set until September 30, 2022.
«Until the same date, the ban on transfers abroad by individuals not working in Russia, from countries that support sanctions, as well as legal entities from these states remains in force. Restrictions on transfers abroad of funds from Russian brokers’ accounts of individuals and non-resident legal entities from sanction-supporting countries also remain in effect. Amounts of transfers are calculated at the official exchange rate of foreign currencies to the ruble, set by the Bank of Russia on the date of the transfer order,» the statement says.
