Heads of border villages of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan hold meeting

Head of Batken region Uchkunbek Zhorobaev met with the head of Isfara district of Tajikistan Bahovadin Bahodurzoda in Tumba area on the territory of Ak-Sai rural district. Azattyk reports, citing Uchkunbek Zhorobaev.

According to him, the meeting was attended by representatives of law enforcement agencies, the state cadastre, water management and heads of border villages.

The official said that the parties discussed issues of borders and irrigation, and also agreed to take measures to prevent violations by residents of border villages.

The last conflict on the border took place on April 12. At about 9.17 p.m., during the meeting of the border representatives of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, who arrived at the scene of the incident as a reinforcement, the border guards of the Republic of Tajikistan opened fire at the servicemen of the Kyrgyz Republic. After midnight, the parties agreed to withdraw additional forces and means to the places of their permanent deployment.
