Kazakhstan bans export of sugar from country

Kazakhstan imposed a six-month ban on the export of white and cane sugar from the country. The corresponding order was signed by the Ministry of Agriculture of the country.

The document was published on May 12 and will come into force on May 22.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeev said that Kazakhstan provides itself with sugar by only 7 percent. However, its production is planned to be increased seven times — up to 254,000 tons, which will reduce the import of this product by 32 percent.

«It was reported in April that Kazakhstan increased quota for import of sugar at zero rate,» Kapital.kz reports.
