Turkmenistan initiated a joint business forum with Kyrgyzstan. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry reported.
The Ambassador of Turkmenistan Shadurdy Meredov met with the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Marat Sharshekeev. It is noted that trade between the two countries has noticeably revived in recent years, its volume has tripled and reached $86 million in 2021.
Basically, Kyrgyzstan buys vegetables from Turkmenistan, in particular tomatoes, share of which in the local market is up to 70 percent.
The Ambassador recalled that an agreement was reached between the heads of the two countries on the establishment of the Kyrgyz-Turkmen Development Fund with an authorized capital of $100 million. One of the first projects to be implemented within the Fund will be the construction of an 18-storey residential building in Bishkek with premises for business.
The parties agreed to hold a business forum for entrepreneurs in June 2022. It is expected that due to the strict quarantine regime in Turkmenistan caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the event will be held online this time.
