Since the beginning of the year, 577 criminal cases were initiated in Kyrgyzstan over organization of pyramid schemes. Investigator of the Interior Ministry’s Investigation Service Aibek Zhetigenov said at a round table discussion in Bishkek.
«At least 44 criminal cases out of the total number were transferred from the past year, 339 were sent to court for consideration on the merits, and 249 are under investigation. People file complaints every day. There are a lot of facts,» he said.
The total material damage suffered by Kyrgyzstanis within the cases reached 156,225,657 soms and more than $27,000. Of this amount, only 130,450 soms have been compensated so far.
According to Aibek Zhetigenov, the problem of damage compensation is related to the fact that fraudsters try to hide or legalize the criminal proceeds. The amount of damage to be compensated and its procedure is determined by the courts.
