26 billion soms allocated to ensure food security in Kyrgyzstan

At least 26 billion soms have been allocated from the republican budget this year to ensure food security in Kyrgyzstan. Mirbek Duisheev, head of the Expenditure Planning Department of the Ministry of Finance, told at a press conference in Bishkek.

«Out of 26 billion soms, 1.5 billion were allocated for the purchase of seeds, 975 million soms — for fertilizers, more than 2 million for the purchase of diesel fuel, sugar and vegetable oil, 1,400 billion soms were allocated for the repair and restoration of the irrigation network,» he said.

According to the official, financing of agriculture in such a volume occurs for the first time. Answering journalists’ questions, he said that the distribution of funds and their use is controlled by the Ministry of Finance, the Accounts Chamber and the Ministry of Agriculture.
