President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov asked the leader of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to positively consider the issue of opening the land border for Kyrgyzstanis. Press service of the President reported.
The head of the Republic of Kazakhstan assured that he would instruct the relevant state bodies of the country to consider this issue.
It should be noted that the heads of state spoke on the phone today. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated Sadyr Japarov on the successful completion of negotiations on the status of Kumtor gold mine.
The President noted that reaching an agreement was not easy. He stressed that the interests of the Kyrgyz people were put at the forefront by the Kyrgyz side. As a result of a long negotiation process, the Kyrgyz side managed to achieve the most beneficial possible results for Kyrgyzstan.
The parties also discussed the prospects for development of the Kyrgyz-Kazakh strategic partnership with an emphasis on the upcoming anniversary date — the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states.
