Kyrgyzstan's economy to grow by 2 percent in 2022

Kyrgyzstan’s economy is expected to slow down in 2022 and recover somewhat in 2023, if external uncertainty does not drag on. New report by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) says.

The ADB forecasts Kyrgyzstan’s GDP growth to slow down to 2 percent in 2022 due to economic sanctions imposed on Russia, the country’s main trading partner. Growth is expected to recover to 2.5 percent in 2023.

«After returning to growth last year, much of the outlook now depends on external uncertainty. Development of a greener economy can help reduce risks to sustainable development. ADB remains fully committed to supporting Kyrgyzstan’s economic development,» Kanokpan Lao-Araya, Country Director of ADB’s Resident Mission for the Kyrgyz Republic, said.
