Five universities in Kyrgyzstan to be granted special status

Five higher education institutions of Kyrgyzstan will be granted a special status. Press service of the Ministry of Education and Science reported.

At a meeting with rectors of higher education institutions, Almazbek Beishenaliev said that the universities of Kyrgyzstan should take leading places among the universities of Europe and Central Asia for five years. To achieve this, five higher education institutions will be given a special status.

«They will be provided with industrial and economic freedoms. They will have the opportunity to independently approve the standards and procedure for admission of applicants, they will be able to open branches and change the management system on their own,» the statement says.

The head of the Ministry of Education emphasized that universities should not only provide education, but also engage in science and research, entrepreneurship, production, implement innovative projects.
