Prices of mineral fertilizers have doubled due to the situation in Ukraine. Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Kyrgyzstan Azamat Mukashev told at a press conference.
According to him, Kyrgyzstan imports fertilizers from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Russia.
«You know what’s going on in the world. The situation affected both the producers of mineral fertilizers and Kyrgyzstan. The entire chemical industry is tied to energy sources. If the price of gas rises, this also affects the sale prices of mineral fertilizers. Compared to last year, they have doubled. Last year, the sale price at the factory was about $300. This year they cost $435-475 in Uzbekistan depending on the name of the fertilizer. The same categories cost $800 in Russia. Prices in the USA have reached $1,200. The cost results from the cost of gas, on the basis of which mineral fertilizers are produced,» Azamat Mukashev said.
He noted that, despite the increase in prices, there is no shortage of fertilizers in the country.
«The Kyrgyz Association of Fertilizer Suppliers brought 24,000 tons of mineral fertilizers into the country: saltpeter and urea. They are sold in 40 districts of the republic. I would urge farmers to contact the regional offices of the association, where they can buy goods directly from suppliers,» the Deputy Minister said.
He also recalled that the state allocated 1 billion soms for the purchase of 30,000 tons of mineral fertilizers, which will arrive in the country from Uzbekistan one of these days.
