Speaker of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Talant Mamytov met with the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbaev. Press service of the Parliament reported.
The meeting was held within the framework of the solemn meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS member states on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the organization in Almaty.
During the meeting, its participants discussed issues of development of political, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations between the two countries, as well as expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Talant Mamytov noted that the volume of trade between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan in 2021 reached $1 billion, the growth in mutual trade is about 35 percent.
The Speaker offered the Kazakh side to consider the issue of opening the land borders of Kazakhstan for citizens and light vehicles of the Kyrgyz Republic.
«It is important to take into account that the borders of the union republics should not be closed to the fraternal peoples,» Talant Mamytov said.
