The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has decided to temporarily not apply the anti-dumping measures to European herbicides. EEC press service reported.

They are being re-investigated due to changed circumstances.

«At the moment the commission is analyzing the situation on various commodity markets, after which it may decide to suspend some anti-dumping measures for six months, depending on the development of the economic situation. The issue of herbicides has been considered taking into account the relevant application of the Kazakh side, as well as statements by manufacturers of European plant protection products, who have expressed their intention to continue operating in the Eurasian Economic Union,» EEC Trade Minister Andrey Slepnev said.

Suspension of the anti-dumping duty on herbicides will help mitigate logistical problems caused by disruption of global supply chains, as well as partially offset currency volatility. Ultimately, the EEC decision will support agricultural producers in the EEU countries and help ensure food security. The decision will enter into force ten calendar days after its official publication.

In addition, the EEC Board by its decision supplemented the package of measures of customs and tariff regulation in respect of certain types of goods aimed at ensuring economic and food stability of the EEU countries. In particular, import duties on some cocoa products will be zeroed until April 30, 2025, and until December 31, 2023 — on copper matte and cement copper.

«The adopted measures will allow producers to maintain the existing level of capacity utilization, as well as to cover some of the additional costs associated with sharp changes in currency exchange rates,» Vahagn Ghazaryan, Director of the EEC Department for Customs Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation, said.
