«There will be growth in prices in Kyrgyzstan, but I would not say that it will be spontaneous — twice, by 50 percent,» Deputy Economy Minister of Kyrgyzstan Eldar Alisherov said today at a briefing.
According to him, a price increase is already observed. Food products and fuels are getting more expensive now. At the same time, he noted that energy prices, including fuel, affect the cost of all goods.
«We are smoothing the inflation rate to prevent surges. Negotiations will be held to ensure the supply of goods at more restrained prices and not to import inflation. If there is a surge in prices, then measures will be taken. For example, it is possible to set a fixed margin. I am far from being of the opinion to set a price ceiling, because it can lead to shortages. But setting the margin size is quite possible. We have administrative mechanisms against speculators. They are already used. But we do not see speculative growth so far,» Eldar Alisherov said.
