President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany Gabriela Guellil on the occasion of presenting credentials. Press service of the head of state reported.
The President said at the meeting that February 3 marked the 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Germany. He confirmed that Kyrgyzstan considers Germany as an important foreign policy partner. Sadyr Japarov thanked the German side for their assistance in Kyrgyzstan’s democratic and socio-economic development.
In order to achieve accelerated post-Soviet economic recovery and development, Sadyr Japarov suggested the Ambassador to step up cooperation in trade and investment, financial, technical and climate change areas. Sadyr Japarov welcomed the establishment of the German-Kyrgyz Business Council as a mechanism for attracting German investments.
The Ambassador Gabriela Guellil noted the friendly relations between Germany and Kyrgyzstan, which have been consistently strengthened by fruitful cooperation in many areas of mutual interest. As a vivid example of project cooperation the German diplomat mentioned joint work in the sphere of healthcare. In this framework, a new Emergency Department was recently opened at the Jalal-Abad Regional Hospital, and construction of the Bishkek Tuberculosis Hospital and perinatal centers in Talas and Osh are nearing completion.
The head of the diplomatic mission also confirmed that the Federal Government of Germany would continue to fully support the Kyrgyz people on the path of democratic development and achievement of socio-economic prosperity both bilaterally and within the framework of multi-purpose cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union. Particular attention will be paid to project support for the efforts of the Kyrgyz authorities in curbing climate change and implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
