Kazakhstan will provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Tengrinews.kz reported with reference to the press service of the Prime Minister.
It is stressed that Kazakhstan traditionally provides humanitarian assistance in response to an official request from another state. After receiving such an appeal from the Ukrainian side, the President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev gave a specific instruction to urgently provide humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian people.
«The Commission on International Humanitarian Aid under the Government has decided to allocate to Ukraine a batch of 25 types of medical products worth $2,251,445. The weight of the humanitarian aid will amount to 82 tones. At present, the issue of delivering this cargo to its destination is being worked out,» the statement says.
The press service of the head of the government said that the delivery of cargo to the territory of Ukraine is currently difficult for security reasons. In this regard, the Cabinet of Ministers of Kazakhstan is making arrangements with neighboring states where hubs are deployed for the receipt and distribution of international humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
Tengrinews.kz recalled that earlier this week Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had a telephone conversation with the Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the initiative of the German side, during which the Kazakh leader said that the country was ready to provide humanitarian aid to Ukrainian citizens in form of medicines and other necessary products.
The hostilities in Ukraine are ongoing. Russia started a special military operation on February 24, 2022. The number of military and civilian casualties continues to grow. Many countries have imposed and continue to impose severe sanctions against Russia.
