Labour migrants from Kyrgyzstan begin to give up trips to Russia to work amid sanctions and currency fluctuations. RBK reports, citing the Chairman of the Kyrgyz Congress public organization for Sverdlovsk Oblast Urmatbek Kurbanbaev.
«I personally know people who have refused to travel. Those who firmly believe they can find a job here continue to leave for Russia. Those who are just going to look for a work prefer to stay in their home country in hope of finding a job,» he said.
According to him, it is due to the uncertain situation in Russian business. Depreciation of the ruble and difficulties with money transfers from Russia to Central Asia also play a role.
About 1,188,000 citizens of Kyrgyzstan work abroad.
As it was reported earlier, the official exchange rate or the Russian ruble in Kyrgyzstan as of March 3 is below 1 som.
