Turkish Airlines has temporarily canceled flights to/from Sochi and Minsk. TASS reported with reference to the airline.
«Our flights from and to Sochi, Minsk and Ukraine have been canceled until March 1, 2022,» the statement says.
The company also extended the temporary cancellation of flights to Belarus, as they were previously suspended until February 26 inclusive.
Earlier it was reported that Turkish Airlines flights to Rostov-on-Don were canceled for an indefinite period. Air communication with Moldova has been suspended until March 4, 2022 inclusive. The company does not operate flights to Ukraine, since the airspace of this country is closed.
Meanwhile, Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekşi announced that a separate ticket price has been set for Turkish citizens evacuating from Ukraine. They will be able to buy a ticket for a flight home for $220. This is the maximum price regardless of the departure airport. However, since the airspace of Ukraine is closed, citizens will have to travel to neighboring countries — Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania or Moldova to leave.
Today is the fourth day of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine. It started on February 24, 2022. On February 25, fighting took place in the north, south and east of the country. Some cities are either blocked or captured. The number of casualties among the military and civilians continues to grow. Western states impose tough sanctions against the Russian Federation, but they refused to fight in Ukraine.
On February 26, the Spokesman for the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the military operation would continue after Ukraine refused to negotiate.
