The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe expelled Russia from the organization. RIA Novosti reports with reference to the statement of the Foreign Minister of Italy.

As noted, this means that the Russians will not be able to file complaints with the European Court of Human Rights, and the Russian Federation may now not comply with the European Convention on Human Rights.

On the night of February 24, Vladimir Putin officially announced start of a military special operation in Donbas. An extraordinary meeting of Russia’s Security Council was held in Moscow on February 21 to discuss the issue of recognizing the independence of the DPR and LPR. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the decree.
