Talant Mamytov discusses problems of migrants with Valentina Matvienko

Speaker of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Talant Mamytov met with Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matvienko. Press service of the Parliament reported.

The parties discussed topical issues on the agenda of the Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation. Valentina Matvienko noted that she is glad that the first official visit of the delegation of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan of the seventh convocation began with the Russian Federation. She also congratulated the Kyrgyz side on the successful completion of the constitutional reform.

Talant Mamytov noted with satisfaction a complete mutual understanding between the two countries, which allows developing fruitful cooperation. Valentina Matvienko recalled that the Federation Council is represented by various constituent entities of Russia, suggested actively develop inter-regional partnership and recommended to include this issue in the agenda of the meeting of the inter-parliamentary commission.

Speaking about the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, she expressed gratitude to the Kyrgyz side for preserving the official status of the Russian language in the new version of the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Chairwoman of the Federation Council added that the program for the development of the state language and improvement of language policy in Kyrgyzstan is being implemented taking into account the needs of the Russian language, which continues to serve as the language of interethnic communication.

Particular attention was paid to the issues of cooperation in the field of migration.

The speaker, touching upon the topic of improving the legal status of the Kyrgyz people in Russia, asked for assistance in withdrawal of certain categories of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic, who cannot reunite with their families, from the so-called black list.

Valentina Matvienko shared the concern of the Kyrgyz side in the field of migration and suggested continuing to work together to solve problems in this area.
