Culture Minister promises to build five new ski resorts in Issyk-Kul region

At least 1 billion soms will be allocated for development of tourism in 2022 in Kyrgyzstan. Azamat Zhamankulov, Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy, told journalists at the opening of «Kyrgyzstan — country of mountain skiing and winter recreation» charity festival.

Major changes will be made in the tourism sector, he said, and the funds will be used to improve infrastructure and implement new projects.

Azamat Zhamankulov believes that one ski resort in Issyk-Kul region is not enough to promote winter tourism. He noted that within the framework of Ski Cluster project, five land plots have been preliminarily chosen in Issyk-Kul region, where it is planned to build new recreation areas for winter sports and entertainment.

«We are, of course, considering the possibility of implementation of similar such projects in other regions of the country as well,» the official added.
