Sweden lifts all anti-COVID restrictions from February 9. The country made this decision after Denmark, Norway and Finland.

Its Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson explained the lifting of restrictions by a high vaccination rate. «It’s time to reopen Sweden. The pandemic is not over yet, but is entering a completely new phase,» she said.

The head of government stressed that fewer people in the country are seriously ill, in addition, experts know more about the coronavirus now. «Infection rates will remain high for some time, but the most severe consequences of the infection seem to be past,» Andersson explained.

At least 83.6 percent of the population over 12 years old are vaccinated with two doses in Sweden. About 49.4 percent of residents over 18 years old are also vaccinated with a booster dose.
