The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin wrote a letter to the President Vladimir Putin. He outlined the problem related to migrants. Baza Telegram channel reports.

According to it, Alexander Bastrykin proposed to toughen the legislation, otherwise «local conflicts between migrants can turn into mass street riots.» He also specified that over 33,000 crimes have been committed by migrants in 2021.

The head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation informed in the letter about labor migrants from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and «aggressive migrant workers», who, in his opinion, «heated up the situation». In addition, Alexander Bastrykin said that Russian citizens are «seriously concerned» that the migrants are monopolizing the domestic services sector.

Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation reported that an increase in the number of crimes committed by migrants was registered in Russia (by 5.9 percent) in 2021. In total, migrants committed 36,400 crimes in Russia. Most of them were committed by people from the CIS countries — 78.3 percent of the total.
