Members of interim government of Kyrgyzstan summoned for questioning

Azimbek Beknazarov, a former member of the interim government of Kyrgyzstan, was again summoned for interrogation. Own sources informed 24.kg news agency.

It is specified that the former deputy head of the provisional government testified at the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office within a criminal case related to the June 2010 events.

Keneshbek Duishebaev, ex-chairman of the State Committee for National Security, was also summoned for questioning.

According to preliminary information, Beknazarov and Duishebaev will be confronted.

The interim government was formed after the April 2010 events. It consisted of 14 members, including Roza Otunbayeva (head of the interim government), Almazbek Atambayev (first deputy), Temir Sariev and Azimbek Beknazarov (deputy heads of the interim government) and Damira Niyazaliyeva (health minister). Emilbek Kaptagaev was a chief of staff of the interim government.

The criminal investigation into the June events was resumed in April 2021. The investigation is being conducted under the article «Abuse of office» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The case was initiated against officials of the interim government on the fact of assistance to the unimpeded illegal departure from the country of the notorious Kadyrzhan Batyrov, which was one of the reasons that led to the tragic consequences in May — June 2010 in the south of the country.
