Ex-head of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan Karim Masimov was detained in Kazakhstan. RIA Novosti Telegram-channel reports.

It is specified that Karim Masimov was detained for treason.

«The former head of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan, dismissed from his post after the start of the riots, was detained on suspicion of treason and placed in a pre-trial detention center,» the Telegram channel reports.

Mass protests in Kazakhstan began in the early days of 2022. Residents of Zhanaozen and Aktau in Mangistau region opposed the increase in prices for liquefied gas, then the protests spread to other cities. The situation is slowly stabilizing.
