Kyrgyzstan does not rule out participation in CSTO peacekeeping mission

In accordance with the decision of the head of state and the CSTO Council, Kyrgyzstan confirmed its readiness to provide all-round support to fraternal Kazakhstan and, to the extent necessary, fulfill allied obligations within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in connection with the appeal of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov announced at its emergency meeting.

Participants of the meeting discussed the current social and political situation in the country, which has developed in connection with the escalation of tensions and the introduction of a state of emergency in Kazakhstan. Akylbek Japarov heard reports from the heads of law enforcement agencies on the situation at the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border and possible threats of movement of criminal elements and weapons to the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Instructions were given to the ministries of the financial and economic bloc to take measures to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the banking system and the food and fuel security of the republic.

The Cabinet of Ministers decided to initiate an emergency meeting of the Parliament in the afternoon as part of the instruction of the President Sadyr Japarov. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Kamchybek Tashiev was appointed the speaker at the meeting. He is entrusted with the operational leadership of the government headquarters for responding to developments in Kazakhstan.

Members of the Cabinet of Ministers also discussed and made decisions on a number of other issues.
