The CSTO Collective Security Council decided to send peacekeeping troops to Kazakhstan. The Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan announced on his Facebook page.

According to him, the decision was made in accordance with Article 4 of the Collective Security Treaty. Peacekeeping forces are sent to Kazakhstan for a limited time period in order to stabilize and normalize the situation in this country.

The protests are taking place in cities of Kazakhstan for several days due to an increase in the cost of liquefied gas — its price was increased from 60 to 120 tenge per liter since January 1. Protests, which escalated into clashes with the police and riots, took place in several cities of the republic, including Nur-Sultan and Almaty.

The state of emergency has been introduced throughout Kazakhstan. The government of Kazakhstan has resigned. The Chairman of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan was also replaced, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev became the new chairman instead of Nursultan Nazarbayev.
