The case against the newly elected deputy of Parliament of Kyrgyzstan of the 7th convocation Akbokon Tashtanbekov, accused of inciting ethnic hatred, has been sent to the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek. The court office told 24.kg news agency.

The date for the commencement of the proceedings has not yet been set. In turn, the Central Election Commission said that Akbokon Tashtanbekov could lose his mandate only if he was found guilty by the second instance court. Re-elections will be scheduled then in the Issyk-Ata constituency, in which Tashtanbekov ran and won.

A criminal case has been initiated against Akbokon Tashtanbekov. A video was posted on social media where he threatens a man of another nationality. Facebook users demanded to punish the candidate for the mandate for inciting ethnic hatred. The Central Election Commission agreed to prosecute him. Akbokon Tashtanbekov was charged under the article «Incitement of interethnic or interregional hatred» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. He was placed in the temporary detention facility of the State Committee for National Security.

It is worth noting that the video was filmed several years ago. Supporters of Akbokon Tashtanbekov say that it was posted on social media now in order to provoke a campaign against the winner of the elections in the district.
