Since the beginning of the year, the price of granulated sugar grew by 12 soms — from 54 to 65 soms. The State Agency for Antimonopoly Regulation of Kyrgyzstan reported.
The agency said the price increased the most at the beginning of the year. By March, it was 63 soms per kilogram. Then the Ministry of Economy concluded an agreement with the chain stores that helped stabilize the price. Afterwards, state regulation of prices was introduced. The cost of sugar remained stable.
After the end of the state regulation period, sugar prices began to rise again.
Since the end of November 2021, sugar plants increased the wholesale prices of sugar to 64.85 soms per kilogram, while its price also increased in the retail segment. Chain stores increased prices to 66-68 soms.
«An agreement has been reached with domestic producers to adjust the wholesale selling price of sugar supplied to large chain stores (Globus, Frunze, Narodny) — from 64.85 to 63 soms including cost of delivery. As a result, sugar is sold for 65 soms in the chain stores,» the state agency said.
