On the instructions of the President, an interdepartmental commission has been set up to check the state of medical faculties in higher educational institutions. Aidarbek Mambetkadyrov, an expert at the Anti-Corruption Business Council of Kyrgyzstan, told today at a briefing.
According to him, the commission had time to examine the conditions in 21 higher educational institutions in Bishkek and Chui region. It turned out that the owners and management of the educational institutions demonstrate ideal educational conditions only on paper, when they receive a license and are accredited.
«In reality, this is not the case at all. The state of some universities is deplorable. We have seen educational institutions consisting of one building only. There are even no elementary microscopes and teaching moulages. Some universities have them, but they are given to students only on certain days. This affects the quality of education and further the prestige of the state in the international arena,» Aidarbek Mambetkadyrov said.
Work of the commission continues. The state of medical schools in the south of the republic will be studied, and then a list of educational institutions, where the educational conditions do not correspond to the declared ones, will be published. The possibility of temporarily suspension of their work until all the violations are eliminated is also being considered.
«Strict measures must be taken to ensure that the quality of education and conditions meet the declared ones. Even in many well-known universities, teachers work in inappropriate conditions. It should not be like that,» the expert concluded.
