At least 74 foreigners were detained for illegal migration in 2021. Press service of the Ministry of Interior of Kyrgyzstan reported.
According to the ministry, 35 citizens of Uzbekistan, 33 citizens of Tajikistan, 2 citizens of China, 2 citizens of Turkey and 2 citizens of Pakistan were detained in Bishkek and Osh cities, in Jalal-Abad, Batken, Osh and Chui regions.
For example, in January, an Uzbek man, suspected of murder with extreme cruelty in his home country, was detained. It turned out that he had been hiding in Kyrgyzstan since 1996 and has been living in the country with a fake passport. He was extradited to Uzbekistan in the spring.
In February, a Mercedes car carrying 14 Tajik citizens was stopped and detained in Kara-Kul city. All of them were suspected of illegal crossing of the state border. The court ruled to bring them to criminal responsibility.
