Seven maternity hospitals in Kyrgyzstan to receive new lifesaving equipment

Seven maternity hospitals in the country will receive ventilation equipment to save the lives of newborns for 14 million soms. Press center of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan reported.

According to its data, 30 non-invasive respiratory support machines with humidifiers, air/oxygen mixing devices, lithium batteries and spare parts have been bought by UNICEF with the financial support of the Japanese government for 14 million soms ($165,300).

The Health Minister Alymkadyr Beishenaliyev thanked the Ambassador Shigeki Maeda of Japan and UNICEF Representative in Kyrgyzstan Christine Jaulmes for their contribution to strengthening the system of health care for mothers, newborns and children. «It is especially important for us to receive this cargo during the coronavirus pandemic. We are well aware that providing ventilation equipment for newborns and small children has required a tremendous effort, as every nation in the world is currently struggling with the effects of infection, and respiratory problems are the most common and life-threatening,» he said.

The devices will be sent to the maternity hospitals in Suzak district, the regional hospital in Jalal-Abad region, the perinatal center in Osh, the regional hospital in Osh region, the maternity hospital of the National Center for Mother and Child Welfare in Bishkek, and the perinatal center and Clinical Hospital 2 in the capital.
