PCR testing to be mandatory upon entry into Kyrgyzstan from December 1

The Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan announced implementation of measures aimed at prevention of the spread of a new strain of coronavirus infection (Оmicron) in the country from December 1, 2021.

According to the press service of the Government, foreigners and citizens of Kyrgyzstan will need to undergo and have a negative result of PCR test for coronavirus infection before arrival in the republic, regardless of the vaccination status.

The Cabinet of Ministers introduces such measures in order to prevent import and further spread of the new COVID-19 strain.

The Ministry of Health will monitor the epidemiological situation in countries where foci of infection with the new Оmicron strain are detected in order to transfer the list to the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security. Citizens of such states will be prohibited from entering the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Earlier, the Cabinet held an emergency consultation with the World Health Organization on the new COVID-19 strain.
