Authorized representative of one of candidates goes on hunger strike

Anvar Sartaev, an authorized representative of a candidate for deputy of the Parliament in Nooken constituency, Akylbek Arstanbekov, went on a hunger strike in Bishkek. He himself told 24.kg news agency.

«Candidate for deputy of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic Baktybek Sydykov bribed voters. On November 23, local residents and I applied to the Central Election Commission and law enforcement agencies. However, on November 26, the investigation was stopped, allegedly, due to the lack of corpus delicti. I ask the Office of the Ombudsman, the leadership of the CEC and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to send their representatives to Nooken district for a transparent and comprehensive investigation,» Sartaev said.

According to Sartaev, having exhausted attempts to reach out to the authorities, he decided to go on a hunger strike. He chose a bench opposite the building of the Ombudsman’s Office as a place for the protest.

Anvar Sartaev is well-known in Kyrgyzstan for his human rights work. He defends the rights of active military personnel, law enforcement officers and veterans.
