Security Council Secretary of Kyrgyzstan announces cyber attacks on CEC server

Hacking attacks on the server of the Central Election Commission (CEC) have been registered. Secretary of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic, Marat Imankulov, said at a briefing.

According to him, he together with the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Taalatbek Masadykov checked the CEC server. Experts informed them that there were attacks. «The hacking attacks were supposedly made from 20 countries, but thanks to good protection, the server was not damaged,» he said.

On his Facebook page he added that the authorities will not allow falsification of the voting results.

«Leaders of the parties, please, we are ready to check every ballot. The final results of the elections are summed up after manual counting of votes,» he said.

Technical failure on the website of the Central Election Commission of Kyrgyzstan (CEC) was reported. After the publication of preliminary data, the total amount of percent won by the parties reached more than 150. Then the CEC website stopped working, and all the figures changed. The Chairwoman of the CEC Nurzhan Shaildabekova commented on the server failure. She said that the wrong program was uploaded on the website. President Sadyr Japarov noted that if falsification by the CEC is revealed, all members of the commission will be held accountable.

Elections of deputies of the seventh convocation of the Parliament have ended in Kyrgyzstan. The electoral system was changed in the country, so there will be 90 deputies instead of 120. As a result, 54 deputies of the Parliament are elected according to the proportional system (open lists of candidates of political parties) in the single electoral district, 36 deputies — according to the majority system in single-mandate constituencies.

According to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission, six parties get into the Parliament. Winners in single-seat constituencies were also announced.
