Elections 2021: CEC of Kyrgyzstan accredits 730 international observers

The Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of Kyrgyzstan (CEC) has accredited 295 more international observers.

The following organizations were sent to observe the preparation and holding of the parliamentary elections:

• CIS mission (including groups from the IPA CIS and PA CSTO) — 190 observers;
• OSCE / ODIHR mission — 288 observers (50 long-term and 238 short-term);
• Mission of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly — 70 observers;
• SCO mission — 17 observers;
• Mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe — 14 observers;
• Mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking States — 19 observers;
• Mission of the Organization of Turkic States — 9 observers;
• Mission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation — 5 observers.

The CIS and OSCE / ODIHR missions have already launched work in Kyrgyzstan to monitor the election process.

In addition to international organizations, representatives of electoral bodies of foreign states will follow the campaign. The CEC of Kyrgyzstan accredited CEC members of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Maldives, Moldova, Russia, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.

Monitoring and evaluation of the process of preparation and holding of elections by colleagues from the electoral bodies of foreign states, which will be given based on the results of the observation, are important for the CEC of Kyrgyzstan in terms of obtaining a comprehensive and objective review of the country’s electoral system, identifying and eliminating possible gaps in the legislative framework, as well as improvement of existing procedures.

Delegates from 19 diplomatic missions of foreign states are also accredited as international observers.

The term of office of an international observer begins on the day of accreditation and ends on the day of the official publication of the election results.

Elections are scheduled for November 28 in Kyrgyzstan. At least 54 deputies of the Parliament are elected according to a proportional system (from open lists of candidates of political parties) in single electoral districts, 36 deputies are elected according to the majoritarian system in single-mandate constituencies.
