President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov meets with Valentina Shevchenko

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov met with the UFC world champion Valentina Shevchenko, who arrived in Kyrgyzstan the day before, and presented her with a certificate for 1 million soms. Presidential press service reported.

The head of state congratulated Valentina Shevchenko on defending the UFC flyweight champion title for the sixth time, and also expressed gratitude to her parents and coach for the highest level of skills in training athletes.

«You glorify Kyrgyzstan with your successes, tireless work, and the state, in turn, is obliged to pay close attention to sports, athletes, coaching staff and, of course, parents raising future great athletes. We will continue to make every effort to create conditions for all citizens who want to do sports,» he assured.

Valentina Shevchenko thanked Sadyr Japarov and all Kyrgyzstanis for their support and warm welcome, noting that she was happy to be at home again. During the conversation, she emphasized that she was very pleased to personally hear congratulations from the president by phone after another victory at UFC 266, held in Las Vegas.

Valentina Shevchenko admitted that this is a great motivation for an athlete. She noted that the support of her compatriots, which she always feels, gives her even more strength and confidence in victory.

«Sadyr Japarov noted that the arrival of Valentina is a joyful event for all Kyrgyzstanis, since the whole country is rooting for her success and following her sports career. The head of state presented her with a certificate for 1 million soms, as well as memorable gifts for her coach Pavel Fedotov and mother Elena Shevchenko,» the press service said.

In turn, Valentina Shevchenko presented Sadyr Japarov with a cap, a T-shirt, and also fighting gloves, in which she defended her champion title for the 6th time.

The UFC champion Valentina Shevchenko arrived in Kyrgyzstan on November 21. She was greeted by representatives of WEF Kulatuu Er Taimash Federation and fans at Manas international airport. She has not been in homeland since 2019.

At the end of September, a native of Kyrgyzstan, Valentina Shevchenko defeated Lauren Murphy from USA at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 266 tournament in Las Vegas. The athlete defended her UFC flyweight title (up to 56.7 kilograms) for the sixth time.
