Health Ministry of Kyrgyzstan decides on vaccination of adolescents

The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan has decided to vaccinate adolescents aged 16-18, pregnant and lactating women. Press center of the ministry reported.

The decision was made to achieve maximum COVID-19 vaccination coverage of the population.

In addition, Kyrgyzstanis can get an additional (third) dose of vaccine from November 17, 2021 in all temporary vaccination centers in Bishkek.

The third additional dose will be available within one week in other regions of the republic.

The following groups of the population can get the extra (third) dose of the COVID-19 vaccine:

  • Persons with moderate and severe immunodeficiency;
  • Persons at the age of 60 and older who have previously been vaccinated with Sinopharm, Sinovac and other inactivated vaccines;
  • Health care workers with a very high risk of infection and transmission of coronavirus infection;
  • Persons recovered from COVID-19 (including previously vaccinated persons).

An additional (buffer) dose may be offered to the first three groups of citizens no earlier than six months after the primary vaccination course. Those who have recovered from COVID-19 can get vaccinated at least one month after recovery.

The press center told 24.kg news agency that Sputnik Light vaccine will be used for buffer vaccination; Pfizer — for vaccination of adolescents; any of those approved by WHO — for vaccination of pregnant and lactating women.
