During his working visit to Istanbul, the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov met with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the summit of heads of countries of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (CCTS).
The heads of state discussed issues of cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan noted that the meeting of the Supreme Council for Strategic Cooperation between Turkey and Kyrgyzstan, held in June this year, gave an additional impetus to strengthening bilateral relations.
He stressed that for eight months of 2021, the trade turnover between the two countries is approaching the level of 2020. Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed hope for its increase to $1 billion.
President Sadyr Japarov reminded that the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states is to be marked this year and expressed confidence in building up bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation.
Sadyr Japarov paid special attention to the implementation of previously reached agreements, including the creation of the Kyrgyz-Turkish Investment Fund. In his opinion, such a fund is based on mutual interest in expanding investment and financial relations between the countries and contributes to the implementation of public and private self-financed projects of Kyrgyz and Turkish entrepreneurs.
