«I think an agreement on enhanced partnership and cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union will be signed next year,» EU Special Representative for Central Asia Terhi Hakala told reporters.
According to her, the fate of the document depends on the European bureaucracy. The EU has already completed the text of the agreement. It is to be translated into the languages of all countries of the European Union. Therefore, in general, the parties are awaiting signing, but this will take some more time.
In addition, Terhi Hakala told about her meeting with Kyrgyzstan’s authorities. She noted that, among other topics, the situation in Afghanistan was discussed from the point of view of regional security and security at the borders.
«We thanked the Kyrgyz side for providing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan. It is very important that ordinary people receive help, because winter is coming and the humanitarian situation is worsening,» the EU Special Representative for Central Asia said.
