150,000 doses of Sinopharm coronavirus vaccine delivered to Kyrgyzstan

Chinese vaccine against COVID-19 arrived in Kyrgyzstan. Press service of the Government’s Executive Office reports.

China reportedly donated 150,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccine. The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Ulukbek Maripov took part in the ceremony of handing over the humanitarian aid.

«The COVID-19 pandemic has proven that no country can fight the virus alone. Kyrgyzstan is fighting the coronavirus both on its own and with the help of its international partners. Despite the difficult epidemiological situation in the Celestial Empire itself, the PRC continues to provide substantial humanitarian assistance to the Kyrgyz people,» the head of the Cabinet said.

In turn, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Kyrgyzstan Du Dewen noted the importance of providing humanitarian assistance.

«Decision of the Chinese side to donate the vaccine to the Kyrgyz side reflects the friendly relations between the two countries and shows a high level of Chinese-Kyrgyz relations and strategic partnership. I am sure that the vaccines will help the Kyrgyz side in combating the epidemic and ensuring the health and safety of the life of the Kyrgyz people,» she stressed.

The delivered doses of the vaccine will be enough for 75,000 people. In addition, negotiations are underway, and delivery of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine to the country will begin in the near future.
