Secretariat of the Security Council of Kyrgyzstan will take measures to detect corruption schemes in the Customs Service and its divisions from 2020. The Security Council Secretary Damir Sagynbaev told 24.kg news agency.
According to him, the Security Council working group on dismantling corruption risks is currently updating a detailed plan to prevent and combat corruption in the State Customs Service.
«We plan to sign it in January 2020. At the moment, the plan is being finalized,» Damir Sagynbaev said.
The State Service for Combating Economic Crimes promised to clarify information on this issue, but representatives of the State Service for Combatting Economic Crimes have been not available for comment for the 2nd day.
Press service of the Presidential Administration also promised to clarify the information, but afterwards they stopped answering calls from journalists.
The press center of the State Committee for National Security is also unavailable for comments since yesterday.
Recall, at a year-end press conference, President Sooronbai Jeenbekov said he was aware of corruption at the Customs Service.
«Corruption at the State Customs Service has become an international problem. As I have said, our people hate corruption. Even if I cannot completely eradicate corruption, then at least I can reduce its scale. There has been corruption at the Customs since the 1990s, it has always been a center of attraction for corrupt officials,» the head of state said.
The President does not agree that the struggle is selective. «I feel how difficult it is to fight corruption,» he said at the press conference.
24.kg news agency tried to find out at the relevant departments whether they had heard the head of state, whether they intend to strengthen the anti-corruption campaign and by what methods. Officials traditionally were not ready to answer simple questions.
